JSW Steel reports 9% growth in crude steel production for Q1 FY2012

JSW Steel has reported a 9% growth in its crude steel production for Q1 FY2012 at 1.71 million tonnes. The production of flat rolled products increased by 9% at 1.19 million tonnes for June 2011. Moreover, the production of long rolled products increased by 12% to 0.35 million tonnes in June 2011.

The company has posted a growth of 16.14% in its net profit after tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 at Rs 832.66 crore as compared to Rs 716.95 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Its total income has surged by 34.11% at Rs 7109.04 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 531.7100.72 crore for the similar quarter a period ago.

For the year ended March 31, 2011, the company’s net profit after tax has declined by 0.60% at Rs 2010.67 crore as compared to Rs 2022.74 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010. Its total income has increased by 25.17% from Rs 18731.56 crore for the previous year as compared to Rs 23445.88 crore for the year under review.
