Orient Green Power to add significant capacities during 2012

Orient Green Power (OGPL), a renewable energy venture of the Shriram group, is all set to add significant capacities during 2012, which would include commissioning of a 50-MW wind farm - of the 100 MW planned in Andhra Pradesh - by June.  The Chennai-based company currently has a portfolio of 277 MW of wind farms across Tamil Nadu and other states, and about 50 MW of biomass energy plants.

Further, the company is currently in the process of taking the wind energy capacity generation to 450 MW. This includes 80 MW of wind farms in Tamil Nadu by April, 50 MW in Andhra Pradesh and another 50 MW in Gujarat before June.

OGPL is a renewable energy producer in India focused on the development, ownership, and operation of wind, biomass and small hydel projects. The company currently has an aggregate installed capacity of 196 MW, comprising 156 MW from wind power and 40 MW biomass projects. It is one of the top two independent operators and developers of wind farms in India based on aggregate installed capacity.
