NTPC gets Govt nod to sell 15% power from two units

The Ministry of Power has allowed NTPC to sell 15 per cent of power outside long-term PPA in respect of each of Unit 7 of Korba Super Thermal Power project and Unit 6 of Farakka Super Thermal Power project. The balance power will be sold through PPAs to be entered by NTPC with State power utilities.

NTPC has also evinced interest in picking up 76 per cent stake in Patratu and Tenughat thermal power projects in Jharkhand and are in talks with Jharkhand government to pick up stakes in the two projects. These two projects which have a combine power generation capacity of 2,640 MW. They have coal linkages and are currently running at very low efficiency level. The combined cost of the projects is about Rs 16,000 crore. The company plans to refurbish the existing units of the power plant.crackcrack
