Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories to expand CHIP in Andhra Pradesh

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories will expand its Community Health Intervention Programme (CHIP) to a larger region of Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh. CHIP was launched in 2013 in partnership with Neonatal Intensive Care and Emergencies (NICE) Foundation and since then has improved access to primary healthcare, with special focus on reducing the mortality rate of infants and children in more than 54 villages of Ranastalam Mandal of Srikakulam district.

The programme was launched at Perapuram in Poosapatirega mandal with an objective to improve basic healthcare, particularly pre-natal and post-natal care and primary immunisation of children, of about 70,000 people in 50 villages in this region. The programme entails ‘fixed day health care service’ on predetermined days, twice every week in a village where doctors would examine patients.
