Construction major HCC has bagged a Rs 987 crore order to build the superstructure of the Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge over the Brahmaputra in Assam in consortia with two other firms. HCC, in joint venture with DSD Brouckenbau GmbH and VNR Infrastructures, has received a Rs 987 crore order from North East Frontier Railway to construct the superstructure of the Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge over the river Brahmaputra, near Dibrugarh, in Assam. While HCC will have a 51 per cent participating interest in the joint venture consortium, DSD Brouckenbau GmbH will hold 20 per cent and the remaining 29 per cent will be held by VNR Infrastructures.
The Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge will be a double-decked structure, with two railway tracks on the lower deck and a three-lane road on the upper deck. The road level will be 10.5 metres above the railway line. The total length of the bridge will be 4.315 km. This will be the fourth-largest bridge in the country and the longest over the mighty Brahmaputra river. The order will be executed over four years.
