Dhanuka Agritech has received Supreme Court’s an ad-interim order on May 13, 2011 in the matter of a Public Interest Litigation against the company.
As per the order, the production, sale and use of pesticide Endosulfan, has been banned for a temporary period of eight weeks, pending receipt of an interim report from the expert committee constituted by the Government of India.
However, Dhanuka Agritech has informed that it won’t have any impact on performance, as Endosulfan has a very little share of less than 1 percent in company’s business. In addition, Dhanuka Agritech has better eco-friendly and safer substitutes for Endosulfan viz., nukil, marker, caldan sp, aatank etc.
Dhanuka Agritech (DAL) is a part of the Delhi based Dhanuka Group and engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of agrochemicals like insecticides, pesticides, herbicides etc. The company has manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon and Sohna (Haryana), Sanand (Gujarat) and Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir). In addition to the agrochemical business, the company is also engaged in the seed manufacturing business, though its contribution to the total turnover has remained modest.
