Siyaram Silk Mills, Mumbai-based textile company is likely to create more branded fabrics due to lack of volumes in the ready-to-wear garment business. It has launched a new fabric brand this summer, Royale Linen, with designer Manish Malhotra to enhance its branded fabric portfolio.
The company aims to get better margins by venturing into the premium luxury linen category instead of trying to enhance its ready-to-wear portfolio with brands such as Oxemberg and MSD. Currently, the company’s ready to wear segment contributes Rs 135 crore of the company's Rs 900-crore turnover while bulk of its revenue continues to come from blended fabrics.
The entity has planned ad spends of almost Rs 30 crore. It will invest Rs 150 crore to add to this capacity against current capacity of producing 60 million meters of fabric a year. Siyaram has 100 branded showrooms and reaches out to 90,000 multi-branded outlets across the country.
