Prism Cement rises on plan to acquire 15.23% stake in BLA Power for Rs 21 crore

Prism Cement is currently trading at Rs. 95.20, up by 2.65 points or 2.86% from its previous closing of Rs. 92.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 94.60 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 95.30 and Rs. 94.05 respectively. So far 12,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 127.60 on 17-Jul-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 55.55 on 12-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 95.30 and Rs. 90.70 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 4,791.95 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.87% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.02% and 9.10% respectively.

Prism Cement has agreed to acquire 15.23% equity stake for approximately Rs 21 crore in BLA Power, which is in the sole business of generating thermal power.

The company shall enter into a power supply agreement with BLA Power for the purchase and consumption of 25 MW of RTC (round the clock) power from BLA Power for its cement plants - Unit I and Unit II at Satna, Madhya Pradesh under the Group Captive Arrangement under the Electricity Rules, 2005. This agreement is expected to reduce the cost of cement production.
