Apollo Hospitals to invest Rs 1,200 crore in advanced precision oncology care

Apollo Hospitals Enterprises is planning to invest about Rs 1,200 crore in advanced precision oncology care. Out of the proposed investment Rs 650 crore will be spent on state of the art proton therapy treatment facilities to be installed in the Apollo Cancer Institute in Chennai. The proton therapy, to be available for the patients by 2018, will be first of its kind in the country.

The remaining investment will be used to upgrade existing oncology treatment infrastructure. The required funds are likely to be mobilised by a combination of debt and equity.

Apollo Hospitals is the leading private sector healthcare provider in Asia and owns and manages a network of speciality hospitals and clinics, a chain of Pharmacy retail outlets across the country, and provides Consultancy Services for commissioning and managing the Speciality Hospitals.
