Hindustan Zinc gains despite reporting 15% fall in Q2 net profit

Hindustan Zinc is currently trading at Rs 250.80, up by 2.60 points or 1.05% from its previous closing of Rs. 248.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 260.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 260.00 and Rs. 249.30 respectively. So far 255559 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 262.80 on 03-Oct-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 135.80 on 20-Jan-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 260.00 and Rs. 231.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 105632.98 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 64.92%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 33.79% and 1.28% respectively.

Hindustan Zinc has reported 15.41% fall in its net profit at Rs 1901.87 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 2248.42 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company decreased by 10.51% at Rs 4647.62 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 5193.26 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Hindustan Zinc, the world’s second biggest zinc producer, operates the world’s third largest open-pit mine, and world’s largest Zinc Mine in Rampura Agucha, Rajasthan. It has other mines in Sindesar Khurd, Rajpura Dariba, Kayar and Zawar, all in Rajasthan. Cairn India’s Mangala field in Rajasthan is the largest onshore oil discovery in India in more than 20 years.
