Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has reported a 21% growth in net profit at Rs 687 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2012, up from Rs 569 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The company’s net sales grew 16% to Rs 5,660 crore from Rs 4,894 crore last year, driven largely by price increases in soaps and detergents, which is the largest contributing segment. However, the figures are not comparable as the company has transferred its FMCG exports division to a wholly owned subsidiary.
During the financial year 2011-12, domestic consumer business grew by 18% with 9% underlying volume growth. Net profit at Rs 2,691 crores, grew 17%, while net sales grew 12% to Rs 21,736 crore.
