Exide Industries has launched IT 500 (super) battery with an aim to further strengthen their market share in inverter batteries. The company has currently 30 percent market share in the inverter batteries and it is eyeing a growth of 2-3% market share in inverter batteries this year with the launch of new batteries. The company last year sold 10 lakh batteries and this year it plans to sell around 13 lakh batteries, grabbing around 33% market share.
The company’s net profit after tax dipped by 1.29% to Rs 163.20 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, against Rs 165.34 crore in the same period last fiscal. The firm’s total income rose 10.10% to Rs 1275.19 crore for the quarter under review, compared to Rs 1158.24 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Exide Industries was incorporated in January 1947 as Associated Battery Makers to purchase all or any of the assets of the business of manufacturers, buyers and sellers of and dealers in and repairers of electrical and chemical appliances and goods carried on by the Chloride Electric Storage Company. It manufactures a wide range of storage batteries with 2.5 Ah to 20,400 Ah capacities.
