In a bid to grab market share from its troubled rivals, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, is planning to buy over 100 narrow-body aircraft in FY’13, as per a report. The company will pay around $3.75 billion for purchasing these aircrafts.

At present, the airline operates a fleet of 102 aircraft, which includes 10 Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, 12 Airbus A330-200 aircraft, 60 next generation Boeing 737-700/800/900 aircraft and 20 modern ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft. With an average fleet age of 6.04 years, the airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world.

In a separate development, Jet Airways, in an attempt to prune losses, has decided to dismiss services of 72 high-cost expatriate pilots, as per media report.
