Jet Airways, India's largest airline by market share, is eyeing geographical expansion as the airline company is looking to add routes in the South East Asian and Gulf markets in the next one or two quarters. The carrier feels that high fuel and intense competition keeps hurting the performance of the company.
Recently, Jet Airways carried a record 2 million passengers in May, thus creating history in the Indian aviation industry. Jet Airways flew 1.55 million passengers on its domestic and international network, while JetLite flew 4,70,000 guests in May 2011, to achieve this unique milestone in the Indian Aviation sector.
The company has reported a net loss of Rs 123.16 crore for the quarter as compared to net profit of Rs 3.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. Its total Income has increased by 18.50% to Rs 3582.39 crore for the quarter from Rs 3023.21 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
