Hero MotoCorp to set up bike assembly plants with new overseas partners

Hero MotoCorp is planning to set up bike assembly plants in overseas market with new partners. The company will established the same in markets like Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria and Columbia.

This will take its annual production to 90 lakh units per annum by next year and 100 lakh units afterwards, combined with the fresh domestic capacity. Presently, the company is manufacturing 70 lakh units per annum from its three manufacturing plants at Dharuhera and Gurgaon in Haryana, and Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

Moreover, the company is expecting a growth of 25 percent in its export sales this fiscal to about 2.5 lakh units. In 2011-12, it sold 3 percent of its 6.2 million unit sales in overseas markets.

The company reported 20.30% rise in net profit at Rs 603.5 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012. It was Rs 501.6 crore in the same period a year ago. The total income increased 12.22% to Rs 6,140 crore from Rs 5,471.3 crore in March 2011.
