ONGC gains with arm acquiring 15% stake in Namibian oil block

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is currently trading at Rs. 181.65, up by 0.80 points or 0.44% from its previous closing of Rs. 180.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 180.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 182.60 and Rs. 180.90 respectively. So far 54,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 212.00 on 31-Jan-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 155.30 on 27-Jun-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 183.70 and Rs. 177.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2,33,115.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.07%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 18.06% and 13.87% respectively.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) wholly owned subsidiary - ONGC Videsh has acquired 15% stake in a oil block in Namibia. The 15% participating interest in Namibia Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) 30, covering Block 2012A from Tullow Oil of UK, is OVL’s second acquisition in the African nation in as many months.


OVL’s indirect subsidiary ONGC Videsh Vankorneft (OVVL) has signed binding agreements with Tullow Namibia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tullow Oil plc, for the stake buy.


Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
