Emami’s subsidiary -- Emami Agrotech -- has started using inland waterways to ship edible oil to the North-East. The first lot of 250 tonnes has left for Ashuganj port in Bangladesh from Haldia. From Ashuganj, the shipment will be moved by trucks to Agartala (Tripura).

Emami Agrotech plans are afoot to send 6,000-7,000 tonnes of edible oil through this route. The route is not just accessible throughout the year, but will also lead to cost savings.

Emami is the flagship company of the Emami Group and engaged in manufacturing products under various categories namely Hair Care, Skin Creams and Lotions, Talcum Powder and ayurvedic health care products.
