GAIL (India) has awarded laying contract for 520 kms pipeline connectivity from Dobhi (in Bihar) to Durgapur (in West Bengal) including 120 kms line to Jamshedpur (in Jharkhand). With these awards, major contracts for Phase - II of the Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) project, have been finalized. The prestigious 2,655 kms long JHBDPL project, also known as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ project will pass through the state of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
The project will usher industrial development in east India by supplying environmentally clean Natural Gas to Fertilizer & Power plant, Refineries, Steel plants and other Industries. The City gas Network laying activity in Varanasi & Bhubaneswar has already commenced and activities in other cities namely Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Cuttack & Kolkata will start by next month. City Gas Distribution will provide clean fuel to household, transportation and other commercial sectors. With these, the activities of Phase -II of JHBDPL and City gas projects en-route the pipeline will also gain momentum.
