Tata Power’s arm gets mining license project in Russia: Report

Tata Power’s Russian subsidiary -- Far Eastern Natural Resources LLC -- has reportedly secured a mining license of a thermal coal mine in Kamchatka province in Far East Russia. The subsidiary was awarded the license for $4.7 million in an auction process.

Moreover, the company is aiming to deploy the coal mined for its Mundra, Trombay power plants in India. The company will look to export to Far East Asian markets.

Tata Power is India’s largest integrated power company with a growing international presence. The company together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities has presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. Fuel Security and Logistics, Generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), Transmission, Distribution and Trading.
