ONGC spends Rs 2.28 crore for corporate social responsibility

State run, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) at Rajahmundry has distributed Rs 2.28 crore towards various corporate social responsibility activities in the districts of east and west Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. On average it spends 2% of its profits on CSR activities.

The company has spent this money for class room furniture, construction of additional class rooms and toilets, drinking water facilities, equipment for schools, village amenities, like community hall, reverse osmosis plants including borewell, and power supply to Gudavalli, Mosalapalli, Antarvedi, Mattaparru villages.

On the standalone basis, the company has posted a rise of 102.24% in its net profit at Rs 5644.38 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 2790.86 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has increased by 21.80% at Rs 20,332.90 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 16,693.48 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011.
