Manappuram Finance climbs higher on the bourses

Manappuram Finance is currently trading at Rs. 32.90, up by 2.70 points or 8.94% from its previous closing of Rs. 30.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 31.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 33.10 and Rs. 30.65 respectively. So far 84,25,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 67.10 on 14-Nov-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 18.60 on 10-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 33.10 and Rs. 22.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2,767.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.55% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 36.27% and 32.18% respectively.

Baring India Private Equity has picked up about 5 crore shares constituting 5.94% stake in one of the largest gold loan company Manappuram Finance for an estimated Rs 136 crore. The private equity firm bought the shares from the open market.

Manappuram Finance is one of the largest gold loan companies in India operating from Valapad, Kerala. It reported a jump of 83.65% in its net profit at Rs 186.96 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 101.80 crore for the same quarter a year ago.
