Cochin Shipyard signs agreement with Government of Kerala

01 Jun 2018 Evaluate

Cochin Shipyard has signed an agreement with Government of Kerala on May 31, 2018, for construction of three Marine ambulance boats for Fisheries Department.

These vessels will have an approximate length of 22.5 metres, beam size of about 5.99 metres and will have a maximum speed of 14 knots. The vessel will be highly fuel efficient with most modern design, designed by CSL in-house Design Department. Designing of these boats had posed challenges to the yard, as these are extremely weight sensitive vessels. The boat will be built as per the IRS Standard, with a special feature of 2 side aft deck foldable platforms for ease of pulling the patients from water to the deck.

Cochin Shipyard is the first Greenfield and presently the most modern shipbuilding and ship repair yard in India. The company caters to clients engaged in India’s defence segment and global commercial shipping sector.
