BASF’s parent company closes acquisition of businesses, assets from Bayer

02 Aug 2018 Evaluate

BASF India’s parent company -- BASF SE Germany -- has closed the acquisition of a range of businesses and assets from Bayer. The transaction is a strategic complement to BASF SE’s crop protection, biotech and digital farming activities and marks its entry into seeds, non-selective herbicides and nematicides seed treatments.

Earlier in October 2017 and April 2018, BASF SE had signed agreements to acquire businesses and assets Bayer had offered to divest in the context of its acquisition of Monsanto, for an all cash purchase price of Euro 7.6 billion, subject to certain adjustments at closing. These transactions are now completed, except for the vegetable seeds business for which closing is expected in mid-August 2018.

BASF India is a chemical manufacturing company. It operates in the business segments of agricultural solutions, performance products, plastics businesses and chemicals. The agricultural solutions include insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and specialties.
