Vedanta looking to contain alumina imports to 500,000 tonnes by FY21: Report

19 Dec 2018 Evaluate

Vedanta is reportedly looking to contain its alumina imports to 500,000 tonnes a year by the financial year 2021. Every year, the company imports upwards of 2 million tonnes of alumina to power its smelters at Jharsuguda (Odisha) and Korba (Chhattisgarh). The company leans on foreign supplies as it lacks captive bauxite resources to make sufficient alumina.

Vedanta is a diversified natural resources company, whose business primarily involves producing oil and gas, zinc- lead-silver, copper, iron ore, aluminium and commercial power.
