Grasim Industries dips as NGT imposes interim penalty of Rs 1 crore on the company

Grasim Industries is currently trading at Rs. 873.25, down by 10.25 points or 1.16% from its previous closing of Rs. 883.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 875.70 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 882.70 and Rs. 866.90 respectively. So far 16993 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1091.65 on 27-Aug-2018 and a 52 week low of Rs. 688.65 on 15-Feb-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 926.70 and Rs. 863.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 57538.27 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 40.15%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 39.34% and 18.02% respectively.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed an interim penalty of Rs 1 crore on Grasim Industries for storing huge stock of the mercury, obtained as a by-product, in its premises in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Grasim Industries is the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. The company’s businesses comprise viscose staple fibre, cement, chemicals and textiles. Its core businesses are VSF and cement, which contribute to over 90% of its revenues and operating profits.
