Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL), parent company of Orissa Minerals Development Company (OMDC) has reported sales of 2.28 lakh tonnes in August despite difficult market conditions, registering a growth of 2% over the corresponding period last year. However, the steel production of the company got impacted brutally because of declaration of ‘power holiday’ for three days in a week.
The company has reported a turnover of Rs 1,116 crore during the month taking its top-line to Rs 4,909 crore during the five-month period ended August 31.
Meanwhile, sales of by-products of state-owned steel maker during April-August period stood at Rs 243 crore, registering a growth of 39 per cent over the same period last year.
RINL is a government owned steel producer based in Visakhapatnam. The company has reported Rs 658 crore as net profit for the financial year ended March 31, 2011. RINL presently exports Angles Beam, Billets, Channel, Pig Iron, Hot Rolled Rebars and Wire Rods.
OMDC is engaged in mining and producing iron ore and manganese ore. They also produce sponge iron. Apart from mining and marketing of iron ore, the company is also engaged in the field of mining and marketing of manganese ore.
