SBI jumps on likelihood of getting Rs. 4,000 crore capital infusion

SBI is currently trading at Rs. 2070.80, up by 100.25 points or 5.09% from its previous closing of Rs. 1970.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 2005.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 2084.50 and Rs. 2005.00 respectively. So far 1039847 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 2474.80 on 21-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1576.00 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 2084.50 and Rs. 1845.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 139053.91 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 61.58% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.83% and 10.12% respectively. 

State Bank of India (SBI) is likely to get Rs. 4,000 crore as capital infusion for the current fiscal to boost its capital base from government. The finance ministry is actively looking into a proposal to infuse this money and will be deciding in next few months.

In the previous year, the government had infused Rs. 7,900 crore in SBI to increase the Tier-I capital of the bank. Following the capital infusion in March 2012, the government holding in the bank rose to 61.6% from 59.4%.
