Tata Power, through its wholly owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL) which is developing the 4000 MW Mundra UMPP, has initiated yet another unique initiative ‘Project Annapurna’. Through this project, CGPL will install biogas units and create awareness about clean energy amongst villagers which is in line with the company’s commitment towards Green and Clean environment.
Under this project, CGPL in association with Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation has installed six Bio Gas units to provide cooking support to 40 people. Besides, to create awareness about the usage and advantages of bio gas and for success of this project the company has approached Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Society.
Further, in order to make villagers self-supporting with respect to operation and maintenance of biogas plant the company has arranged seminars to impart training to them.
Tata Power has a strong portfolio of wind power comprising of 376.4 MW of installed wind generating capacity, which makes it one of the largest renewable players in India. The wind farms of the company are spread across four states, viz. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.
