Bajaj Auto to set up six more assembly units overseas

03 Oct 2012 Evaluate

Bajaj Auto is planning to set up six assembly units overseas to increase its business in international markets. The company is looking to set up assembly plants in Mexico and Uganda with four more countries such as Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. At present, the company exports to 35 countries and enjoys a leadership position in 12 of them.

The company has a total of 14 assembly plants in various countries in Africa, South Asia and Latin America. The first five months of this financial year sales were slightly affected because of market volatility and political conditions.

The entity has reported a 14% decline in its overall sales for the month of September 2012 which stood at 360,152 units against 417,686 units compared to the corresponding period last year. Despite sluggish market conditions, this is the second highest sales in any September by the company.
