BASF India falls after getting Rs 46 crore tax notice from Karnataka government

BASF India is currently trading at Rs. 1192.40, down by 27.80 points or 2.28% from its previous closing of Rs. 1220.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1213.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1213.25 and Rs. 1180.00 respectively. So far 1043 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1292.00 on 06-Jul-2020 and a 52 week low of Rs. 795.00 on 13-Mar-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1292.00 and Rs. 1180.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 5150.99 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 73.33%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.23% and 15.44% respectively.

BASF India has received a tax demand notice of Rs 46 crore from the Karnataka government. The company had earlier got demand notices from the Commercial Tax Department, Karnataka, aggregating to Rs 620.93 crore (including interest and penalty) for the periods 2006-2007 to 2014-2015 by treating the stock transfers of the company's Mangalore plant as interstate sales to dealers.

The company is in the process of filing its detailed reply/submission/appeals in response to the demand notice.

BASF India is a chemical manufacturing company. It operates in the business segments of agricultural solutions, performance products, plastics businesses and chemicals. The agricultural solutions include insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and specialties.
