Tata Power synchronizes Unit 3 of 800MW capacity of Mundra UMPP

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, through its wholly owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL), has synchronized 800 MW sized Unit 3 of the country’s first ultra mega power project (UMPP) located in Mundra at Gujarat.

With this, the total power generation capacity of the company stands at 6,899MW, reinforcing its position as the largest private power producer in India. The company had earlier commissioned Unit 1 of Mundra UMPP in March 2012 and Unit 2 in July 2012.

With synchronization of Unit 3, the thermal power generation capacity of Tata Power stands at 6,047MW and the generation through clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar stands at 852MW.

Tata Power has a strong portfolio of wind power comprising of 376.4 MW of installed wind generating capacity, which makes it one of the largest renewable players in India. The wind farms of the company are spread across four states, viz. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.
