Cement major, ACC is considering potentials for fly ash and slag blended cement manufacturing at eastern region, as availability of steel plants, thermal power units and presence of limestone reserves in some eastern States make a case for cheaper raw material based production synergy.
Currently, eastern India generates 61.7 million tonnes (mt) of fly ash, out of which only 7.3 mt is used for making blended or Portland Pozzolana cement and the remaining quantity of resource is kept unutilized.
The company’s cement production in September 2012 registered a growth of 8.98% at 1.82 million tonne, as against 1.67 million tonne in the year-ago period. The company's dispatches in the month also increased by 1.16% at 1.75 million tonne, as against 1.73 million tonne in same month last year.
