16 Sep 2020 Evaluate

Dish TV India has started shifting production of its set-top boxes (STBs) to India, with plans to produce 50 percent in the country by the first quarter of 2021. The company, which operates Dish TV, D2H, and Zing brands in the DTH segment and OTT service brand Watch, has been importing STBs from Vietnam and South Korea.

By shifting production of STBs to India, the company looks at scaling manufacturing in the country and ways to enable industry revival. This will further assist in streamlining supply chain, operations, and management. Local manufacturing of STBs will further intensify in the coming months as it also plans to start manufacturing major components for STBs and its accessories in India, further boosting its commitment to 'vocal for local'.

Dish TV is India's largest Direct to Home television operator using MPEG 4 DVB S2 and MPEG 2 digital compression technology.
