Tata Communications aims 90% of voice business from contractual customers

19 Oct 2012 Evaluate

Tata Communications, formerly known as Videsh Sanchar Ningam (VSNL), is planning for 90% of its voice business from contractual customers in the next three years, up from 70% now. The company has taken this decision looking at the onslaught of video-calling solutions such as Skype and Google Talk, since international voice traffic is growing at a meagre 4%. Despite this in 2011-12, the company handled 46.7 billion minutes of international voice traffic globally, an annual growth of 13.4%.

Apart from converting the business from spot to long term contracts, the company is also planning for providing new solutions to grow its voice business. Further, it is also collaborating with various video calling service providers to bridge the gap.

Tata Communications is a leading global provider of a new world of communications. With a leadership position in emerging markets, Tata Communications leverages its advanced solutions capabilities and domain expertise across its global and pan-India network to deliver managed solutions to multi-national enterprises, service providers and Indian consumers.
