Canara Bank surges on raising Rs 2,000 crore through QIP

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs. 126.15, up by 0.90 points or 0.72% from its previous closing of Rs. 125.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 127.05 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 127.95 and Rs. 125.80 respectively. So far 637829 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 232.90 on 23-Dec-2019 and a 52 week low of Rs. 73.85 on 24-Mar-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 146.40 and Rs. 111.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 20839.47 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.55%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.19% and 10.27% respectively.

Canara Bank has successfully raised Rs 2,000 crore equity capital by issuing over 19 crore shares to eligible investors. LIC emerged as the largest investor in the bank's qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue. The subcommittee of the board at its meeting held December 11, 2020, approved allotment of 19,32,36,714 equity shares to eligible qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) at an issue price of Rs 103.50 per equity share, aggregating up to Rs 2,000 crore.

Canara Bank is an Indian state-owned bank headquartered in Bangalore, in Karnataka. It was established at Mangalore in 1906, making it one of the oldest banks in the country.
