ABG Shipyard receives industrial licenses for Design & Construction of Defence ships

ABG Shipyard has been awarded industrial licenses for Design & Construction of Defence Ships from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Upon receiving the award the company is now qualified for building Naval Warships and Naval Support Ships etc., also Submarines and Underwater Vessels, Fast attack Crafts and Weapons and Equipment including their Mounts, turrets, launchers, etc., along with associated systems, sub-systems and all types of assemblies for Navy, Army and the Air Force.

Further, the company is also qualified to build Command Control Communication Computers and intelligence (C41) systems, Sub-systems, etc., for the Navy, Army and the Air Force and Propulsion system, Subsystems etc., for Naval Ships.

ABG is one of the few yards that are being approved for submarine production as well and the said licenses are issued for the Surat as well Dahej shipyards of the company. This opens a major opportunity for Defence shipbuilding in India, which is the one of the long term objective.

Recently, ABG Shipyard was in talks with the Nigerian government and private equity investors to form a joint venture (JV) where it will hold a 40% stake. The shipping company would build a shipyard in Nigeria through this JV. ABG Shipyard will provide technical expertise for the JV and have management control for a period of 20 years.

ABG Shipyard is engaged in the business of carrying shipbuilding and ship repair business. The company has emerged as the largest private sector shipbuilding yard in India with satisfied customer base all around the world.
