NTPC is currently trading at Rs. 156.05, up by 1.10 points or 0.71% from its previous closing of Rs. 154.95 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 155.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 156.50 and Rs. 154.60 respectively. So far 1, 54,000 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 190.30 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 138.95 on 16-May-2012.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 155.60 and Rs. 152.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1, 28,670 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 84.50% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.68% and 3.82% respectively.
The Government is likely to divest 9.5% of its stake in the largest power generator NTPC on mid of January 2013. The said divestment will be done through Offer for Sale (auction) route. At present, the government holds 84.5% stake in the Maharatna Company. Post-disinvestment, the government stake would come down to 75%.
NTPC became public with an initial public offer in 2004. Thereafter in 2009, the government further diluted its stake in the company through a Follow-on Public Offer (FPO)
