Jaiprakash Power Venture raises Rs 950 crore via QIP

Jaiprakash Power Venture, promoted by Delhi-based Jaypee Group, has raised Rs 950 crore ($175 million) in the largest primary issue in the power sector in nearly three years through a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of shares. The company has raised the same for its ongoing projects and/or the projects of its joint venture and subsidiary companies.

Earlier, the company received its board’s approval to raise Rs 3,500 crore through various Domestic/International options, including QIP/ ECB with rights of conversion into shares / FCCBs/ ADRs/ GDRs/ FPO/ Optionally or Compulsorily Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares etc.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures is part of India’s leading Infrastructure conglomerate - Jaypee Group. Currently, the company operates the largest hydroelectric power plant in the private sector in India. Its power projects which are in different stages of implementation include Hydro, Thermal and Transmission.
