Gateway Distriparks has successfully operated a container train on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from its Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Faridabad, Haryana to Mundra Port in Gujarat. This achievement marked an important step towards the connectivity of Gateway Distriparks on the DFC network using its second ICD in the National Capital Region. Gateway’s flagship ICD in Gurgaon is already connected with DFC via New Ateli. The train was flagged off from ICD Faridabad on June 02, 2023 it arrived at port on June 03, 2023 with transit time of 30 - 32 hours. Earlier the transit time between ICD Faridabad and Mundra port was 56 hours using the traditional Indian Railways network.
Track doubling work between ICD Faridabad and the DFC hub station Prithla is currently in progress and expected to complete by September 2023. This will enable Gateway Distriparks to run double stack trains from ICD Faridabad to Mundra and Pipavav port using DFC Network. ICD Faridabad is situated in the Delhi NCR region, and is well-connected to the state highway and the rail network. The facility is spread over 65 acres and has a container handling capacity of 1.5 lakh TEUs per annum.
