NTPC to start construction for Rs 12,850 crore plant in Odisha

NTPC, country’s largest thermal power producer is planning to start construction of the Rs 12,850 crore plant in Odisha during the second half of 2013, since the company is hopeful of completing the land acquisition for its 1,600 MW Darlipali Super Thermal project in Odisha.

The entity had already acquired about 1,200 acres of land in Sundargarh district so far as against the total requirement of around 1,700 acres. As soon as the entire land is acquired, the company will go ahead with the process of floating tender for boilers in second quarter of the next financial year.  NTPC is also likely to invest about Rs 30,000 crore for three major projects in Odisha.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
