26 Mar 2013 Evaluate

Ahead of a possible deal with Etihad, Jet Airways has leased a wide body aircraft along with 60 of its cabin crew to Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways. The cabin crew will be trained by Etihad in Mumbai over the next three months. This is the second such collaborative agreement between the two carriers, which for over three months now, are in talks over equity partnership and strategic alliance. Back in February this year, Jet announced a sale and lease back of Jet's Heathrow-London slots for $70 million to Etihad.

Jet Airways, including its subsidiary Jet Konnect, currently operates a fleet of 16 ATR 72-500 and 1 ATR 72-600 aircraft, and will introduce an additional 4 new ATR 72-600 aircraft into its fleet. The airline has been operating ATR aircraft since 1999 and has covered its fleet with GMAs since the beginning of its partnership with ATR.
