Ashok Leyland shines despite reporting marginal fall in March 2013 sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 22.55, up by 0.10 points or 0.45% from its previous closing of Rs. 22.45 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 22.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 22.75 and Rs. 22.30 respectively. So far 149789 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 32.90 on 02-May-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 20.25 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 22.75 and Rs. 21.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 6026.43 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 30.60% and 17.36% respectively.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship in India, has reported a marginal drop of 1.72% in March sales at 14,020 vehicles as against 14,266 vehicles in same month previous year. The company’s domestic sales declined by 15.35% to 8,846 vehicles from 10,450 vehicles in corresponding month last year while, export decreased by 47.10% to 849 vehicles from 1,605 vehicles in March 2012.

 During the period April-March 2012-2013, total sales grew by 12.3% to 1,14,612 vehicles from 1,01,990 vehicles sold in the same period of the previous year. Sales of commercial vehicle during the period April 2012 to March 2013 fell by 16% to 79,695 vehicles as against 94,395 vehicles sold in the same period of previous year.
