Ashok Leyland shines on bagging order worth $36.56 million

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs 26.20, up by 0.15 points or 0.58% from its previous closing of Rs 26.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 25.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs 26.50 and Rs 24.90 respectively. So far 129412 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 40.95 on 08-Nov-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 22.50 on 19-May-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 27.00 and Rs 24.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 6931.06 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 30.11% and 17.85% respectively.

Hinduja Group flagship, Ashok Leyland, has marked its entry into the Tanzanian market by bagging an order for 723 trucks, buses and special application vehicles. The order that is worth around $36.56 million has been received from the Government of Tanzania. These vehicles will be used for logistical purposes by the government and the Company will complete deliveries by end of the current fiscal.

Ashok Leyland has been aggressively expanding its network in the African market with network offices in Nigeria and Ghana in the West; Malawi and Mozambique in the South; Kenya and Tanzania in the East, apart from the offices in South Africa and Egypt. In 2010-2011, the Company’s export numbers grew by 72% to touch 10,306 nos.
