Pursuant to a hearing in the writ petition relating to the pesticide Endosulfan, Excel Crop Care has received Supreme Court approval for export of the existing manufactured stock of Endosulfan Technical. The company has received an approval on September 30, 2011, subject to certain conditions.
The Pesticide Industry is currently holding stock of about 1090 MT of Endosulfan Technical, which is allowed to be exported under the said order. The next hearing in the matter is fixed for October 10, 2011 for giving further directions to the Joint Expert Committee.
The company had received Supreme Court’s an ad-interim order on May 13, 2011 in the matter of a Public Interest Litigation against the company. As per the order, the production, sale and use of Endosulfan, an important product for the company, had been banned for a temporary period of eight weeks, pending receipt of an interim report from the expert committee constituted by the Government of India.

Technical Endosulfan is a 7:3 mixture of stereoisomers, designated α and β. α- and β-endosulfan are conformational isomers arising from the pyramidal stereochemistry of sulfur.
