Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has received approval from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry for formation of a wholly-owned subsidiary company for green energy and gas business. The wholly-owned subsidiary will engage in businesses related to green hydrogen, hydrogen blending, renewable energy solar, wind and hybrid etc., biofuels, biogas business and LNG. The proposed name of the company is ‘ONGC Green’ which is subject to the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, government of India.
During the meeting, the Board has also accorded its in-principle approval for the formation of a Joint Venture Company (JVC) with NTPC Green Energy. The JVC shall be engaged in the business of Offshore Wind Energy and other Renewable Energy.
ONGC is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
