Sterlite Industries trades in green on the BSE

Sterlite Industries is currently trading at Rs. 88.60, up by 1.85 points or 2.13% from its previous closing of Rs. 86.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 86.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 89.70 and Rs. 86.20 respectively. So far 5, 32,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 123.35 on 03-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 75.90 on 25-Jun-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 87.25 and Rs. 75.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 29,775 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 53.31%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 23.32% and 10.00% respectively.

Sterlite Industries’ copper smelter unit has resumed operations after the National Green Tribunal’s expert panel gave a green signal. The copper smelter unit was shut down over two months ago, after state-run Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) ordered the closure of the unit, due to sulphur dioxide allegedly leaked from the plant on March 23 and affected a large number of residents of Tuticorin.

On June 16, 2013, the panel members conducted its second phase of inspection and checked if the pollution monitoring equipment at the unit was working properly. Full-fledged working of the plant is expected to commence in a few days, maximum one week, when production would start.
