Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NCL) has produced 66.36 Lakh Tonne (LT) of Lignite during the first quarter of 2013-14, against the target of 65.60 LT, registering a growth of 6.4% over previous year. It has removed Overburden of 451.16 Lakh Cubic Metres as against the target of 412.75 Lakh Cubic Metres, a growth of 24.46%.
The company has achieved 6.44% growth in power generation by generating 5377.51 Million units (MU) as against the target of 4850 Million units. TPS Expn (420MW) has generated 920.91 MU during this quarter which is the highest power generation in any Quarter since inception of this plant.
The NCL has achieved targets in all areas of production, during the month of June. The Overburden production was 150.13 Lakh Cubic Metres as against the target of 136.95 Lakh Cubic Metres resulting in 13.09% growth over corresponding. The Lignite production was 22.28 Lakh Tonnes as against the target of 22.15 Lakh Tonnes resulting in 4.95% growth. The Power Generation was also shown a growth of 6.12% by generating 1726.13 MU as against 1605 Million Units.
Neyveli Lignite Corporation is engaged in the business of lignite mining and power generation. At present, the company has four opencast lignite mines with a capacity of about 30.60 million tonnes per annum, while it can produce about 2,740 MW of power from four power plants. It is one of the best public sector units in the country and a best profit making company in the past 16 years.
