Britannia Industries reports 19% rise in Q2 net profit

Biscuit and confectionery maker, Britannia Industries has reported results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2011.

The company’s net profit for the quarter has rose 18.76% at Rs 37.85 crore as compared to Rs 31.87 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s total income has increased by 17.83% at Rs 1305.18 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 1107.70 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

During the period, the company’s expenses on advertising and promotion increased by 30.27% to Rs 100.79 crore while, consumption of raw material increased by 9.4% to Rs 720.85 crore.

Britannia, one of the India’s biggest brands of the country, has a market share of 33%. More-than-a-century old Britannia has launched big brands in FMCG Segment. The company is expanding its customer base by launching new products and renovating existing ones
