Bayer CropScience spurts on initiating talks with Kaveri Seed for minority stake

Bayer CropScience is currently trading at Rs. 1566.00, up by 28.85 points or 1.88% from its previous closing of Rs 1537.15 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 1555.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 1577.00 and Rs 1547.00 respectively. So far 1005 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1775.00 on 22-Jul-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 1043.00 on 18-Oct-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 1550.00 and Rs 1528.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 6200.71 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 71.11% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.83% and 12.07% respectively.

Bayer CropScience, the crop protection and agri-products arm of German company BayerAG, is in preliminary talks with Kaveri Seed Company to acquire minority stake of less than 26% in the company.

The proposed deal may value Kaveri Seeds between Rs 1,422 crore and Rs 2,133 crore or close to two to three times its annual net sales. The company achieved a 49% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) in net sales for last five years to Rs 710.8 crore in FY13, while the net profit grew at 56% to Rs 128.4 crore for FY13.
