BEML, a premier defence PSU has bagged an order for approximately $11 million from Myanmar for supply of a fleet of dump trucks, used for transporting loose materials, and spares. The company has received advance payment towards the supplies and would commence shipment in the later part of this year.
This breakthrough of the company emerged out of its continued persuasion and extended focus in the ASEAN region with aggressive marketing practices, leveraging its overseas operations at Indonesia and Malaysia. BEML is also focusing on African and Chinese markets for mining and construction equipment during the current year.
The company’s net profit for the fourth quarter has declined by 55.34% at Rs 70.25 crore as compared to Rs 157.30 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Its net sales has decreased by 21.60% at Rs 936.07 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 1194.04 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.
The company has registered fall of 32.80% in its net profit for FY11 at Rs 149.76 crore as compared to Rs 222.85 crore for FY10. Net sales have dipped 7.32% at Rs 2630.37 crore for the year from Rs 2838.24 crore in previous year.
